Northwest Las Vegas

The Northwest part of Las Vegas is a diverse and rapidly growing area of the valley that blends suburban living with spacious lots and proximity to natural scenery.

Rural Preservation & Rural Neighborhoods

The Rural Neighborhood Preservation (RNP) areas — often called Rural Preservation or rural neighborhoods — are unique enclaves primarily around the northwest portion of the valley designed to maintain open space, rural character, and lower density living. 

These areas are zoned to support a rural lifestyle with:

• Very low housing density (generally no more than 2 homes per acre).
   
• Large lots that support equestrian use, gardening, small orchards, and outdoor space.
   
• Rural infrastructure: Roads in some parts may lack sidewalks, curbs, or streetlights; many are private and maintained by residents.
   
• A natural feel: Open desert views, wildlife sightings (e.g., birds, coyotes), and a more relaxed pace than typical suburban subdivisions.
   

• Lone Mountain Rural Preservation lands — a prominent example where rural residential parcels sit near the Lone Mountain neighborhood but retain larger acreage and rural zoning.
   
• C. H. Rural Preservation — an example neighborhood known locally for its rural ambiance and larger residential lots.
   

• Northwest Rural Preservation Association is an organization focused on protecting the rural culture, property rights, and lifestyle of RNP residents as development continues around the edges of these areas.
   
• Local government efforts (like Clark County resolutions and advisory committees) have recently aimed to ensure that rural areas have a voice in planning decisions and that rural character is preserved as the valley grows.
